Virgin Australia halves domestic flights

Virgin Australia has announced it will suspend all international flights from March 30 until 14 June.

In a statement to the ASX, the airline also said it would cut group domestic capacity by 50 per cent until June 14 as well.

The airline says it will also “operate a reduced international schedule between now and 29 March to enable Australians to return home”.

Just this morning, Deputy Prime Minister announced a $715m bailout for airlines, including Virgin, Qantas, Rex and more.

On Wednesday, Qantas and Jetstar announced it will cut international capacity by about 90 per cent, and domestic capacity by around 60 per cent, until at least the end of May.
